| Camelidynamics
Practitioner |
|
 |
Alicia
has entered the Camelidynamics Practitioner
program allowing her to pass on the knowledge
of working with alpacas and llamas the
Camelidynamics way in a kind, trusting,
fun, respectful, interesting and understanding
way. If you're new to alpacas it can be
daunting - knowing how to approach and
handle your alpacas in a respectful and
kind manner can be so rewarding for you
and your alpacas! If you are an "old hand"
at alpacas - do you still corner them to
grab them? is it still a fight/struggle
to do your husbandry chores? It doesn't
have to be - and Alicia can show you how.
Contact her for some lessons - small groups
also catered for.

In
September 2010 and June 2011 Alicia attended
the Advanced Camelidynamics courses in the
United States with Marty McGee Bennett. It
was a fantastic experience and we are happy
to report that Alicia passed with flying
colours and now holds the Camelidynamics
Handler Seal and is also a Camelidynamics
Practitioner - which means our
animals are managed and trained in a kind,
respectful and understanding manner. If you
would like to know more just send us an email!

Shearing
is over again for another year and we would
like to give a very big THANK YOU to our
helpers - including Charlotte - pictured
shearing her first alpaca - we start 'em
young around here!
Thankyou
to our alpaca friends Anne & Gordon,
Jill
& Ken and Joy & Allan - your help
was greatly appreciated and made the day
run smoothly.

At
7yrs of age Mr Darcy has proven he's still
got it! Shown at the 2010 Charles Ledger
show in the mature male class he was awarded
a blue ribbon and then to top that he was
awarded Champion Mature Male - not bad for
a 7year old!
His
progeny also stood up to the competition:
Reserve Champ. Junior Male (22 in class),
1st in dark fawn Jnr Male and Champion Adult
Female to name a few. |

Alicia
has been extremely busy in 2009, 2010
and now 2011 running steward courses around
the countryside on behalf of the AAA Ltd.
She is in high demand in all states with
all regions having very eager participants
- so there should be a lot more qualified
stewards and convenors out there now. |

 |
| To
minimize the stress for our alpacas (and ourselves!)
we do not mate or have births throughout the
hot summer months where our temperatures can
easily reach 40°C and above. As alpacas do
not have a "season" as such and they
can be mated at any time of the year, this is
a husbandry decision for Regal House Alpacas
to ensure we have strong healthy crias with minimal
impact on their dams. |
