Shearing is over
Shearing is over for another year and the animals are all enjoying having their coats off!! We are very pleased with the fleeces that have come off the animals and we'll be getting some processed again this year.
Ricky retires to stud

Ricky is not terribly fond of the show scene and as he has had such an illustrious show career we have decided he is better utilised at home as one of our working males - much to his delight we're sure!
Another successful show
We had another fabulous show at Hawkesbury Show 2016 - we had 3 animals entered and came home with 10 ribbons!! We're very proud of our small show team!

We had a little visitor this week - how exciting is that! Couldn't believe my eyes when I came home to find a Koala hanging on the side of our garage :) We are truly blessed to have such wonderful wildlife around us.
Ricky does it again!

Regal House Ricky won his class - Intermediate Brown Male at the Central West Spring show in August 2015 - he's a lovely boy. He is extremely fine and very dense with a high frequency crimp on a beautiful frame. Ricky has been shown 3 times and has received 3 x Firsts, 1 x Jnr Champion, 1 x Best Brown - not bad for a young gun!
Evo's cria
Regal House Secret Liaison, Shamus and Bordeaux - 3 gorgeous boys. Liaison (middle pic) - already has "the look"! He looks very regal - quite fitting really :)
Loving our "Evo" cria

We now have cria on the ground from our new sire Shanbrooke Pure Evolution and we're really excited - they look fabulous! We have 2 solid light fawn and one solid white - all boys!
They have beautiful conformation and are strong and hardy AND mischievous!
Bordeaux was the first and he is such a handsome little man - his dam is sired by Regal House Mr. Darcy so this little guy has some great genetics!

Our girls are on holidays where there is plenty of green grass!! Aren't they lucky? They are having a fabulous time and have met up with some of the wethered boys from Regal House - they are all getting along very nicely and probably won't want to come home!!
Thanks Stuart and Kylie for letting our girls roam your wonderful paddocks and enjoy grazing the copious amount of grass you have!!

2014 Shearing is over for another year - it's always exciting waiting for the fleeces to come off so you can have a good look at the fleece.
Very excited with some of the fleeces from our youngsters this year - very lustrous, dense and well aligned high frequency crimp - a pity they are not quite old enough to show!
Because we are in drought conditions we have had tot put some of their mums up for sale - if you are looking for some really good females at reasonable prices come and have a look at their progeny - you'll be surprised!
Thank you to Sean & Emma Timmony for your help on the day - you did a fantastic job!

Camelidynamics at Di & Phil Sanders farm in Duri was fantastic - full of fun and learning with fabulous food and very enthusiastic participants!
There is a lot to get through in a one day course and a lot to take onboard in order to put into some of it into practice but Peter had the cradle hold perfectly!
A great day with fabulous people!

Exciting new genetics come to Regal House with Shanbrooke Pure Evolution

We are so excited to announce the arrival of Shanbrooke Pure Evolution to our stable of stud males. This male has everything we have been looking for - extreme density and uniformity with a highly aligned crimp that starts from the tip of his head and extends throughout his body and down his legs and into his brisket - a truly outstanding young male.
"Evo" is sired by Shanbrooke Plantel Haynacho and his dam is Shanbrooke Accoyo Pride - her dam - Shanbrooke Accoyo Taquile, is arguably the best female in Australia producing top quality progeny with show winning performances.
These genetics are not available anywhere else in Australia!
Evo will be available for limited outside services - for more information visit our Stud Services page.

Another successful Camelidynamics course in Qld

We had a very keen group of people attending the course at Tambourine Qld in early November - with a combination of alpaca and llama owners keen to learn new techniques on how to manage their camelids.
We covered herding, wand & catch rope and mid-line catch techniques along with correct halter fit and specific behavioural problems some participants were having. We had a great day & fabulous weather!
Many thanks to Leanne Tunny (McLaren Vale Alpacas) for organising the day.

Camelidynamics Advanced Course - Vermont USA

Alicia attended another advanced course for Camelidynamics with Marty in beautiful Vermont in the USA in August 2013 - just to keep her skills up to date. We had a great group of people & lots of fun with absolutely beautiful Vermont weather! The course is over 4 days and covers the science of Animal Behaviour & the ABC's, using positive reinforcement as a tool with lots of hands-on work with some challenging animals.
We are happy to report the trip was worthwhile and Alicia is now a Senior Consultant!
Understanding what YOU are doing is often the solution to finding a solution to those "difficult" or more challenging animals.
Why not ask Alicia to your farm to help you? Make life easier for you… and for your animals! She can do 1-1 training or small… or large groups. You will learn a lot - & have fun doing it.

Some more show success
Although we didn't show animals this year we did submit fleece to Sydney Royal Show 2013 - Regal House Mercedes, SMF - received 1st place in 12-18months Medium Fawn. We are extremely happy - she not only did well in the led classes she also succeeded with her fleece.
To be followed on with Hawkesbury Ag. Show 2013 - again Mercedes received a first in her class, Regal House Lillybet also received a 1st in 18-30mths White and Regalalleena Rihanna also received a 1st place in 30-48months Brown - 3 fleeces - 3 first placings! A great show.

New website for Regal House Alpacas & New Shop for Alpaca Dynamics
We have revamped and modernised our website - we hope you like it. We have also updated our shop so it is quicker and easier to find what you are looking for - especially for those on slow internet connections. Have a look and let us know what you think: www.alpacadynamics.com.au
Cria time

We have our first cria drops for the year due from mid March with a combination of Ringo and Mr. Darcy cria expected. We are really excited and looking forward to seeing the results of the genetic combinations we have this year.
Shearing September 2012
Shearing is over for another year and once again we are delighted with the quality of the fleeces that has been shorn from our alpacas. The fineness, density and crimp definition is apparent - all qualities from our own sires and our females. This year we had a new shearer - Nigel Wood - brilliant shearing job with all useable fleece and good with the animals which is important to us here at Regal House. Unfortunately we were so immersed in the shearing day we didn't take any photos!! Our alpacas are now enjoying the sunshine and sun baking.
Camelidynamics in Orange
The western region of NSW has asked Alicia to facilitate 2 Camelidynamics courses in Orange in September & October 2012. Both were well attended with enthusiastic participants - all keen to learn how to manage their alpacas in a caring & respectful manner AND to make their everyday management of their herds easier. Hats off to the region for thinking outside the square and helping their members work with their alpacas in a positive manner.

Camelidynamics Practitioner

Alicia has entered the Camelidynamics Practitioner program allowing her to pass on the knowledge of working with alpacas and llamas the Camelidynamics way in a kind, trusting, fun, respectful, interesting and understanding way. If you're new to alpacas it can be daunting - knowing how to approach and handle your alpacas in a respectful and kind manner can be so rewarding for you and your alpacas! If you are an "old hand" at alpacas - do you still corner them to grab them? is it still a fight/struggle to do your husbandry chores? It doesn't have to be - and Alicia can show you how. Contact her for some lessons - small groups also catered for.
Camelidynamics - USA

In September 2010 and June 2011 Alicia attended the Advanced Camelidynamics courses in the United States with Marty McGee Bennett. It was a fantastic experience and we are happy to report that Alicia passed with flying colours and now holds the Camelidynamics Handler Seal and is also a Camelidynamics Practitioner - which means our animals are managed and trained in a kind, respectful and understanding manner. If you would like to know more just send us an email!
Shearing Sept 2010

Shearing is over again for another year and we would like to give a very big THANK YOU to our helpers - including Charlotte - pictured shearing her first alpaca - we start 'em young around here!
Thankyou to our alpaca friends Anne & Gordon, Jill & Ken and Joy & Allan - your help was greatly appreciated and made the day run smoothly.

Mr Darcy does it again

At 7yrs of age Mr Darcy has proven he's still got it! Shown at the 2010 Charles Ledger show in the mature male class he was awarded a blue ribbon and then to top that he was awarded Champion Mature Male - not bad for a 7year old!
His progeny also stood up to the competition: Reserve Champ. Junior Male (22 in class), 1st in dark fawn Jnr Male and Champion Adult Female to name a few.

Steward Courses
Alicia has been extremely busy in 2009, 2010 and now 2011 running steward courses around the countryside on behalf of the AAA Ltd. She is in high demand in all states with all regions having very eager participants - so there should be a lot more qualified stewards and convenors out there now.
Summer Breeding
To minimize the stress for our alpacas (and ourselves!) we do not mate or have births throughout the hot summer months where our temperatures can easily reach 40°C and above. As alpacas do not have a "season" as such and they can be mated at any time of the year, this is a husbandry decision for Regal House Alpacas to ensure we have strong healthy crias with minimal impact on their dams
